Every week, from Thursday to Sunday, lights, attractions, markets and shows

One of the most beautiful Tuscan cities is dressed in magic for the most beautiful party: Saturday, November 16 takes off Arezzo’s Christmas City, the calendar of events created by the City of Arezzo and organized by the Arezzo Intour Foundation, with the collaboration of many cultural and trade associations, local companies and artists, which until next January 6, 2020, every week, from Thursday to Sunday, will transform the old town in a real Christmas village. Markets, shows, attractions: every corner of Arezzo will be surrounded by the atmosphere of Christmas.

The Christmas Village of Arezzo green park

Trees, logs, lanterns, lights, all of this will be the atmosphere of the Christmas stories that will characterize the “Christmas Village” of Prato, the green park. The large green area that dominates the city, will host a special installation: here will rise the 40-meter high tower (unique in Italy, similar to the one recently located next to the London Eye), where young and old can climb up to experience breathtaking emotions.

Next to the tower there will be a skating rink, which this year will also have an area reserved exclusively for children. For the first time, the forest around the Fortress will also be completely illuminated and will host a large talking tree, while those who love to sled on the snow can enjoy a large “ice slide”.

A crystal octagonal will welcome the “Salotto del Prato” with a lounge area and a cocktail bar that during the week can also host private and corporate events while twenty wooden houses will offer food and wine products and typical crafts. After last year’s success, the Lego Village is back, a paradise for lovers of the now mythological coloured bricks, and the Planetarium with its inflatable geodetic dome is back, where it will be possible to live the experience of a 3D journey from Earth to the borders of the universe.

Tyrolean village the home of santa claus

In Piazza Grande (until December 26) is renewed the date with the Christmas markets organized by Confcommercio Arezzo where you can breathe the atmosphere of the Tyrolean Village, the largest in Italy outside the borders of Tyrol, with 34 wooden houses and the large hut where delicious dishes will be served, from candies to spaetzle and polenta. On Thursdays, in the “Dinners in the Hut” organized by the chefs of the square, there will also be the chance to taste the Tyrolean products with those of Tuscany. The 2019 edition of the Christmas Village will be characterized by the inclusion of two more small huts with the best beers and typical Tyrolean sweets: here you can taste the Strauben and Kaiserschmarrn and enjoy hot chocolate or the characteristic apple cider. The square will host the Christmas Garden with plants and Christmas trees, while inside the Palazzo della Fraternita dei Laici will be set up the House of Santa Claus on the theme “Invest in Memories” that will offer workshops for children and the opportunity to take a picture with Santa Claus giant lit by over 100,000 LEDs.

The traditional markets in Piazza San Jacopo and Piazza Risorgimento

Among the novelties of the 2019 edition, Piazza San Jacopo and Piazza Risorgimento will host every day of the week a traditional market which will feature 24 wooden houses specially designed for the two squares. Here, you will breathe the atmosphere of the typical Christmas village, with operators coming from Arezzo and other Italian regions. Clothing, beauty products, regional food specialties will characterize the market of Piazza Risorgimento while in Piazza San Jacopo back exhibitors of decorations and Christmas items to make unique trees and nativity scenes. There will also be handicrafts with quality jewelry and gifts such as covers and accessories for smartphones. There will also be space for clothing with woolen knitwear, scarves, scarves, linens. There will also be cheeses, fruit preserves, fresh truffles, dried and processed porcini mushrooms, honey. Thanks to the herbal teas, spices, teas and salt of all kinds that come from far away, you can finally make a real journey to discover every corner of the world.
