This tour begins in Palermo and ends in Catania. 

We are excited to invite you to embark on an 6-day journey discovering Sicily’s roots with Italy4Real! You’ll enjoy the sights with your expert local guide, who will introduce you to Sicily in a way you will remember forever.

This guided tour adventure is carefully balanced with free time on your own to take in the beauty and magic of each stop on the tour.

Whether this is your first time exploring Sicily or if you are a return traveler, you will be captivated by the history, culture and scenery of this incredible island!

This tour is perfect as an extension to one of our other Italian journeys; combine it with a tour of Venice, Florence, Rome, Tuscany, or the Amalfi Coast to create a more extensive and enriching travel experience across Italy.

Welcome to Palermo, a city where history, culture, and cuisine come together, offering an authentic glimpse into the island’s diverse heritage. We are excited to begin our tour in the soul of Sicily. Located along the island’s northern coast, Palermo has a lively culinary scene as well as seaside views and an historic past. Once you visit, it will surely not be your last time! Rest up and get ready for 5 days of adventure from Palermo, the jewel of the Mediterranean, to Taormina, the pearl of the Ionian Sea!

Your tour begins with a smooth private transfer from Palermo Airport to your comfortable and centrally located 4-star hotel in the heart of Palermo.

After you check-in, you will have time to relax after traveling and perhaps enjoy a light snack and glass of wine while settling in and preparing for the adventures ahead.

On your first evening, you can explore your accommodations and the city, enjoying dinner at your leisure before our adventures begin.

And don’t forget… while touring, you’ll wake up every morning to enjoy a lovely buffet breakfast served at your hotel! It’s the perfect way to start each day!

2nd Day: Palermo ➡️ Monreale ➡️ Palermo

After enjoying a buffet breakfast served at your hotel, we are starting the day with a walking tour through the capital of Sicily! We’ll wander through the historic center and experience its timeless energy and beauty.

Discover the historic richness of Sicily’s capital with a local guide. Highlights include:

• The Arab-Norman Cathedral (exterior visit during Holy Mass)
• The Norman Palace and the remarkable Cappella Palatina, showcasing the coexistence of diverse cultures and religions
• The intricate Pretoria Fountain with its 16th-century sculptures
• The breathtaking Santa Caterina Baroque church and cloister

You’ll have a chance to enjoy the flavors of Palermo, while dining at your leisure for lunch before we depart to Monreale.

Monreale is situated on a panoramic hillside nearby to Palermo. We’ll visit one of most stunning Cathedrals in the world, with its Moorish architecture, housing mosaics representing a complete cycle of the Old and New Testaments in Arab-Norman style. It is breathtaking!

We’ll then proceed back to Palermo for the evening, where you’ll enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening at your leisure. This is a great time to explore, shop and find a lovely restaurant for dinner, then get a restful night’s sleep for more adventure tomorrow!

3rd Day: Palermo ➡️ Erice ➡️ Marsala (Winery Visit & Tasting) ➡️ Agrigento

Buon giorno! Our tour begins after you’ve enjoyed a wonderful buffet breakfast served at your resort. Lace up your shoes and let’s get ready for another day of adventure and exploring more of Sicily’s history and culture.

We’re starting the day with a scenic drive to Erice, a medieval hilltop town overlooking the Trapani and Egadi Islands, where we will take a break to stretch our legs and stroll through the medieval streets.

From there, we head to Marsala, a city on the western coast famous for wine production. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through Marsala’s historical centre and lunch on your own.  

After lunch, you’ll enjoy a wine tasting at a prestigious local winery and learn about local production. Then we head to Agrigento!

Upon arrival in Agrigento, relax and unwind after your day of exploration and enjoy dinner on your own at your hotel and a restful night sleep. We have more to see and do tomorrow!

4th Day: Agrigento ➡️ Piazza Armerina ➡️ Catania Area

Following a delicious and satisfying buffet breakfast at your hotel, today’s adventure begins with a drive to the hillside town of Agrigento, where we will learn about and explore the stunning Valley of the Temples – a truly awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This is a highlight for visitors, packed with history and awe as we stroll the nearly perfectly preserved Temple of Concordia and the Temples of Juno and Heracles. Walking among these ruins feels like stepping into history.

From there, we’ll proceed to Piazza Amerina, in the inland of Sicily, where you’ll enjoy lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, you’ll independently visit the renowned Villa Romana del Casale, home to the world’s largest collection of late Roman mosaics and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We will then continue to Catania, where you will check-in to your 4-star hotel, carefully selected for its convenient central location. After you check-in, relax and explore town, and enjoy dinner at your leisure before settling in for the night. We have another big day planned tomorrow!

5th Day: Catania ➡️ Mount Etna ➡️ Taormina ➡️ Catania Area

Good morning! Today’s adventures begin after you’ve been served a lovely buffet breakfast at your hotel.

Our excursion today takes us on a drive to Mount Etna, where your guided tour includes exploring the highest active volcano in Europe! We will ascend to 1800 meters to the Sylvester Craters and enjoy the spectacular scenery over the Ionian Sea. On the way back, we will stop at a local winery on the eastern slopes to visit a cellar for a wine tasting.

In the afternoon, we’ll head to Taormina, “The Pearl of the Ionian Sea”, where you’ll enjoy leisure time for shopping or strolling and lunch on your own. Taormina is endlessly fascinating with breathtaking views of Mount Etna, the ancient Greek theater, charming streets and timeless elegance. Stroll Corso Umberto or the tiny streets where you’ll find local shops featuring handmade lace, coral jewels, ceramics, homemade sweets and preserves!

After your afternoon in Taormina, we will return to Catania. Dinner is at your leisure before returning to your hotel for the evening. We wish you sweet Sicilian dreams for your last night with our tour.

6th Day: Departure from Catania

This morning you will enjoy a final buffet breakfast with your travel group at your hotel in Catania before departing.

A private transfer will take you from your hotel to Catania Airport.
